THE GHRH ADVOCACY PROGRAMME

The GHRH Advocacy Programme will take place from 8 July to 5 August 2025, with sessions held every Tuesday from 15:00 to 16:30 (BST). The programme is delivered entirely online to enable participants from all over the world to attend.

Each weekly session will run for 90 minutes, consisting of a 45-minute lecture from an expert speaker who is a leader in girls human rights, followed by a 20-minute interactive exercise to apply what you’ve learned, and a 25-minute group discussion to share ideas, ask questions, and build your advocacy skills.

To be eligible for a Certificate of Completion, participants are required to attend at least 5 out of the 6 sessions.

All registered participants will receive unique Zoom links by email. Please check your inbox before each session, as only pre-approved participants will be able to access the sessions.

Talk: Introduction to advocacy and its importance in advancing girls' human rights. Ethical principles and global frameworks like the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Exercise: Participants map out a girls’ rights issue in their community or region, identifying ethical considerations.
Discussion: Share findings and explore how local challenges connect to global advocacy.

  • Laura Coryton MBE is a feminist campaigner, Obama leader, author and founder of the social enterprise Sex Ed Matters. She spearheaded the first online tampon tax petition which successfully lobbied the UK government into establishing the 'Tampon Tax Fund', through which almost £100m was donated to female-focused organisations, ended the tax in 2021 and now supports sister petitions around the world. She has since founded a social enterprise dedicated to making quality, confidence-building sex education accessible to everyone, to tackle rising rates of violence against women and girls.

  • A human rights and gender equality activist

    Georgiana Epure is a human rights and gender equality activist, whose work is located at the intersection of local and international levels. Her work currently focuses on protecting and advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights in Central and Eastern Europe. Previously, she worked on global advocacy to end child marriage, international human rights strategic litigation, and led gender equality initiatives in Romania. In recognition of her impact, Georgiana was honoured with the 2024 GHRH Trailblazer Award for Leadership.

    In 2020, she initiated and has since led Romania’s national campaign to eliminate violence and harassment in the world of work, a movement that led to the country’s ratification of the International Labour Organisation’s Convention on Violence and Harassment.

    Georgiana holds an MPhil in International Relations and Politics from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Social Science Research Methods from the University of Leeds.

  • A British-Kurdish campaigner and survivor advocate

    Payzee Mahmod is a British-Kurdish campaigner and survivor advocate whose work focuses on ending harmful practices such as child marriage, honour-based abuse, and FGM. Following the honour killing of her sister Banaz, Payzee has become a powerful voice for legislative and societal change. As an ex campaigner at IKWRO - Women’s Rights Organisation, she played a central role in securing the legal ban on child marriage in England and Wales through the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Act 2022.

    Payzee uses digital advocacy to drive systemic change, merging lived experience, grassroots mobilisation, and policy influence. Her TED Talk, “A Survivor’s Plea to End Child Marriage,” has reached millions globally. She regularly collaborates with NGOs, lawmakers, and international bodies, and is passionate about equipping young people with tools to advocate effectively for human rights.

The Girls Human Rights Hub Advocacy Programme is a five-week, online programme designed to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and networks to advocate effectively for girls' human rights. Each session includes a focused talk, a practical exercise, and a group discussion to foster active engagement and learning. Ensuring that every girl has access to quality education is crucial for societal progress.

Programme Overview:

Duration: 5 weeks (One session a week)

Format: Each day, a 90-minute session will consist of:

Participants: students, young professionals, and advocates (ages 12-24).

Any students aged 12-24 years plus who are interested in advancing girls’ rights. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute.

Programme Expectations

1. Engagement: Active participation is encouraged, with respect for differing viewpoints.

2. Attendance: Participants should strive to attend all sessions to maximize the learning experience.

3. Commitment: Participants are encouraged to dedicate approximately 2 hours per session (including preparation and attendance).

  • Members/ Our Community: £25 to participate in the programme.

  • Non-members: £35 to participate in the programme.
